Day 4 – Ok…Down the Ohio River, Not Up

We got an early start for the 120 mile drive north to Williamstown, WV and the Fenton Glass Tent sale. We arrived early so we had some time to kill and drove over to Marietta, OH. Marietta is right along the Ohio River and has lots of parks and some very nice homes. Finally it was noon and Fenton opened for business. Yes, they were successful in selling us a couple of items, not saying what though. Our purchases earned us discounts on the regular items in the Gift Shop but nothing jumped up and bit us.

Fenton Art Glass

Yes, Literally a tent sale!

As it was Sunday, neither factory tours or Museum were open, but a sad look at least got the museum opened.

Since we drove the interstate route north we decided to meander home downriver on the OH side following the Ohio River Scenic Byway. The road is aptly named! Most of the route you are very close if not right alongside the river. This is a very pretty drive to do in a car. Trying it with an RV would be and an adventure I will pass on, thank-you. In many places the road is very narrow, hard turns and many bumps. An RV ride would be ”shake, rattle, and roll” or very slow or both!

There were many farms along the way, mostly corn and soybeans. One section several miles long was fresh vegetables, 1000’s of acres of tomatoes with some cabbage and cucumbers. I presume the sandy soil has lots to do with that. We found one very nice small town, Pomeroy, OH, virtually lined up along the river. The town was on one side of the road, the river on the other. One building just as you came to the older business district had 4 very nice murals depicting times in local history. The picture of the Ohio River is also from Pomeroy OH. Overall we had a very good, but long day. Tomorrow we stay local!

This evening I noted lights didn’t seem very bright. I think Mr. Murhpy stowed away! Yes the batteries were down to 8.93 v., not good. At 9:30 on Sunday night start the RV and let it idle. Got the voltage up to 11.4 v and went to bed
